About Shrot

"Shrot", meaning "source" — the origin of a river, where purity, freshness, and life begin. The name embodies our commitment to providing products that are as pure and refreshing as the life-giving waters that flow from the earth’s most vital springs.

Shrot is a conscious luxury Himalayan skincare brand that makes nourishing “skinfood” from ingredients and recipes that are local. When one buys Shrot, they are assured of quality products, made with rare ingredients that aren’t found elsewhere but Himalayas and recipes that are inspired from traditional skincare remedies that are passed from generation to generation in Himalayan households. Shrot inherits its traits from various aspects of Himalayas, its valleys, forests and its people. It is warm, simple, natural and sustainable. The elegance and luxuriousness of Shrot is its simplicity and quality.

How it Started

Shrot was founded in early 2025 by Priyank, a designer and researcher who hails from the Himalayan town of Ranikhet, Uttarakhand. An alumnus of IIT Bombay, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Design, Priyank began his career as a Service Design Researcher at TCS. After 2.5 years in the corporate world, he decided to return to his roots — both literally and figuratively — and pursue his long-standing passion for natural skincare.

Having made all-natural soaps since 2020, Priyank envisioned expanding into a full range of natural skincare products that celebrated the local botanical heritage of Uttarakhand. His goal was to integrate traditional Himalayan ingredients into modern skincare formulations — using oils and herbs native to the region, such as Hempseed oil, Chyura butter, and Apricot oil.

The journey to source these ingredients was nothing short of an adventure. In search of authentic Chyura butter, a Geographical Indication (GI) product found primarily in Pithoragarh, Priyank and his brother embarked on a 12-hour drive deep into the hills, guided only by scattered NGO reports and Google Maps pins. Their perseverance paid off when they discovered a remote village where locals used Chyura butter daily for cooking — a serendipitous moment that cemented Priyank’s belief in the path he had chosen.

Over time, he also established local sourcing channels for Hemp oil, Apricot oil, and various Himalayan herbs. What began as a solo effort — where Priyank personally handled everything from sourcing and formulation to packaging, branding, and website design — has now grown into a small, dedicated team.

Today, Shrot offers a thoughtfully crafted range of lip balms, moisturizers, salves, facial oils, cleansers, scrubs, and cold-processed soaps, all made using locally sourced Himalayan ingredients. The brand takes pride in its transparency, openly sharing the origins of its raw materials and the care that goes into each product.

With a growing team and a deep respect for local traditions, Shrot remains committed to creating honest, high-quality skincare rooted in the Himalayas.
