Shrot's Sustainability Efforts

Shrot is a sustainable brand. We have made several decisions throughout our journey to minimize our ecological impact. This page highlights a few of our efforts:

• Go Local
  Most of our raw materials come from local geographies, helping us reduce our contribution to global emissions that result from transporting raw materials. This also supports local communities by providing livelihoods, and in return, we benefit by sourcing the best-quality ingredients for our customers.
• Packaging
  Whenever possible, we avoid using plastic. We use glass containers for most of our products, which customers can either reuse or return to us for a discount on their next purchase. To participate, customers simply need to return three used glass containers of products purchased from us. After doing so, they can contact us via email, and on their next purchase, we will provide cashback upon receiving order confirmation. • Handmade and Small Scale
  We operate on a small scale, which makes the process of creating our products a joyful hobby, done with passion. This also allows us to minimize our environmental impact by keeping operations small.

Request for Suggestions
Although we work hard to stay sustainable, there are still areas where we can improve. One such challenge we are currently facing is the necessity of using plastic pouches for soap packaging. We make soap using the cold-process method, which retains the natural glycerin in the soap. While glycerin is beneficial for skin conditioning, it is also hydrophilic, meaning it attracts atmospheric moisture. This leads to soap sweating, which doesn’t affect the soap’s quality but makes it less attractive to customers. Therefore, we currently package our soaps in airtight plastic pouches.
